The Singapore Kindness Movement warmly invites schools to celebrate Kindness Day SG (KDSG) on Friday, 22 May 2026.

KDSG is a meaningful national occasion that brings the school community together to practise kindness and graciousness in everyday interactions, reinforcing shared values that contribute to a gracious and inclusive Singapore.

Kindness Day SG also highlights appreciation as a key expression of kindness.

The Gerbera daisy, adopted as a symbol of appreciation, represents gratitude, positivity, and the simple yet powerful impact of thoughtful gestures.

Through small acts such as kind words, sincere thanks, and the giving of Gerbera daisies, students and educators alike are encouraged to recognise and appreciate one another in meaningful ways.

More than a one-day celebration, KDSG serves as a reminder of the important role educators play in nurturing in students:

Empathy
Respect
Gratitude

Through intentional conversations, guided reflection, and simple acts of kindness, teachers can help students develop positive relationships with their peers, families, and the wider community.

Let’s Put Kindness in Action in Schools

Schools are encouraged to design age-appropriate opportunities for students to practise kindness through classroom discussions, learning activities, and school-wide initiatives throughout Kindness Month, reinforcing kindness as a daily habit rather than a one-off activity. Schools may also mark Kindness Day SG by announcing the day and inviting the school community to wish one another a meaningful “Happy Kindness Day!”.

Preschool

All preschools are warmly invited to celebrate Kindness Day SG and take part in Kindness Month in May. To support educators in bringing kindness learning to life, preschools that opt in and register by January 2026 will receive the Kindness Day SG (KDSG) Package between March and April 2026.

Designed with educators in mind, each KDSG Package includes an Educator’s Guide and ready-to-use activity materials, making kindness learning engaging, meaningful, and easy to implement in the classroom.

Educators may also download additional Printable Kindness Activities from our website to further enrich your programme, offering more ideas to extend learning and reinforce kindness across different contexts.

Educators may guide students to create a kindness card and write a message of appreciation for someone special, expressing gratitude and empathy through a simple act.

Schools may also mark Kindness Day SG by announcing the day and inviting the school community to wish one another a meaningful “Happy Kindness Day!”.

For schools planning to spotlight kindness as a key theme for the year or term, you may also request to loan the Singa mascot to add excitement and visibility to school-wide or community activities, creating memorable experiences that bring kindness to life for both educators and students.

Let's Be Greater Together

Families are encouraged to come down to the Kindness Day SG celebration on Saturday, 23 May 2026. More details here.

As part of the celebrations, a special Kindness Day SG exhibition will be held at Kampung Admiralty, Punggol Oasis and Plantation Plaza. The exhibition invites families and the public to explore how kindness can take root and flourish in our communities.

Visitors can enjoy interactive displays, heartwarming stories and hands-on craft activities. The exhibition also highlights initiatives by individuals and communities who have gone the extra mile to make Singapore a kinder place, inspiring everyone to play a part.
